The mission of Meals on Wheels is to promote the dignity and independence of older adults, persons with disabilities, and other homebound persons by delivering nutritious meals and providing or coordinating needed services.
Volunteers are needed to help. Every day here in Tarrant County, hundreds of elderly and disabled homebound people go hungry. Good, nutritious food is available to feed them through Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County. There are currently 215 delivery routes and 46 meal distribution sties in Tarrant County as of February 9, 2015. These routes serve between 10 to 15 clients for each route Monday through Friday every week.
We have a distribution hub for Meals on Wheels out of Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. We have two to three people each day separate, pack and hand out the meals to the drivers. We have five routes in our vicinity. For each route, there is one driver plus one person per route to deliver the meals each day. If you are interested and can volunteer once a week, or once a month, or would like to be a substitute, please call Terry Johnson 817-861-0679 (H) or Barb Newhart (W) at Meals on Wheels in the mornings at 817-258-6472 for more information.
